The Void
Mikhail was walking unsteady, his legs tripping each other. After six years if teaching people never minded the way he walked, it was part of his personality, but even when his leg s would bend and twist don’t think that he wouldn’t have caught you. Why was he alone, he thought, he had put his heart in her hands and she had thrown it back in his face? Now after all this time he realized she was heartless, she was shrewd and she was cold. The cold is what got to him in time. She simply left him, packed he bags and left how was he to survive. He knew he never really loved her just her image, the image of a loving, caring, honest person, Lily was not. She never loved him she loved the money his wealth something he never really valued. He grew up with money, but he also grew up with the polite, strict, cold and unloving parents.
Now years later he became and educated caring man. He was a professor at the local university in New Orleans. He had lived years of being alone. He would find the one he loved he would not be alone forever, he thought, as he stepped from the desk.
“Forsaken Mice.” Muttered Brian under his breath as he threw another dead mouse body into the trash. He had been the matinees man for three years now and no one ever thanked him for the work he di, other than Mikhail. The poor man lost two kids and now his so-called wife left him. As he started sown the hall a vile smell filled. He walked into class one-eleven, pushing the cart of cleaning supplies in front of him. “If I have to clean up on more dead rodent heads are going to be rolling.” From behind him he heard an almost silence squeak when he turned to throw the broom at the mouse he saw the hanging lifeless body of Professor Mikhail Donovan. The lifeless hanging corpse of Professor Donavan, his face was pale, his lifeless eyes bulging from his head. His gaze slid to the floor wear a puddle of blood had cut into his neck, dripping from his fingertips.
Two Years Later
She had always thought that some people shouldn’t send there kids to school her dorm mate was one of them. She had never believed in the stereotype of stupid blondes, but it must have been women like Crystal who started it. She was going to New Orleans collage just to spite her mother. She soon discovered that easier said then done her mother just didn’t care,Rose shrugged her shoulders and continued to poor herself over her books for her major.
“Hey.” Rose jumped. “Jeez don’t have a heart attack.” Steven said, and plopped him self down on the chair next to Rose. “Ok, soooo…What are you doing?”
“Studying, you should try it.” She said looking back at her books.
“Funny girl what I meant is what are you doing tomorrow.” He said closing her book on astronomy.
“Oh you should have clarified, Don’t pester me Steven go away.” She said grabbing her book back, “and what ever your doing tomorrow in don’t want to know and the answers no.”
“Come on rose I just want you to come out to my house on fix the mustang.” He said a pleading look came into his eyes. “Plus, I’ll feed you.”
“Aren’t you suppose to be a man. Fix it yourself.”
“Aren’t you suppose to be a woman.” He said one eye open as he leaned back on the chair. She blew out some of her out og her eyes.
“Fine I’ll go out there and fix your freaken car.”
“Thanks I ow you.”
“Yeah you do.” She said as she gathered all her books, stood up and walked quickly out of the library. When she walked out of the door of the library a chilled awareness crawled slowly up her spine, she shrugged it of and walk towards her dorm.
When she firmly closed to door behind her, she leaned back against and let out a silent breath of relief. She opened her eyes and let her books fall into a chair. Not bothering to change from sheer tiredness she slipped her shoes of and crawled into bed. She welcomed the familiar darkness of sleep and let it take her into dreams she knew would turn to nightmares. Lately her dreams were filled with despair and sadness. She tossed and turned and slowly woke from her dream.
“Sh. I know what you see I lived it.” to tired to care she fell back into dreams not noticing the covers brought over her by and invisible force.
She woke with a start, out of habit she looked at her clock. 11:30 at night, she thought as she cursed and off the covers. She quickly got dresses and almost fell down the stair she moved so fast. She walked over to her silver GTO. Suddenly she stopped just before she opened the door. The same feeling once again crawled up her back. She ignored it and started the care, right away ‘No One Knows’ by the queens of the stone age blasted threw the stereo. She swung her arm around the back of the seat and backed the car out of her parking space.
When she had traveled about two miles from her dorm, a drunk driver crashed headfirst into her car. The GTO rolled over into the ditch.
Slowly Rose picked up her head, she smelt gas and saw blood. Before darkness took her she noticed that she had been thrown from the car.
When she woke up, realized she felt fine. Carefully she stood up and dusted off her cloths. She looked up at her car and frowned, it was engulfed in flames, a light in the night sky.
“That’s sad.” She turned and saw a man standing behind her, his thumbs hooked in he jeans. He gaze locked on the car.
“Excuse me.” she said politely, trying not to lose her temper.
“Yeah I was hoping you’d have more time.” He said shifting his gaze to hers.
“What.” Comprehension evading her she looked back to the wreckage.
“Your life I mean, I’m here to take you with me.”
“No, no, no. I don’t think so. I’m not dead.” Disbelief clouded her eyes.
“Into eternity.” He said shrugging. “Don’t believe me look down.” She did, there she was standing in her own body. Blood pooled around it and was covering her face. She was more amazed at the easy acceptance of this. Looking down at her body curiously, she sidestepped out of it. Rose noticed her face cut and body had gashes in it.
“I’m dead?” she said he face blunt.
“Yes, come her.” She said gently offering his hand. She slowly walked towards him and took it. Silently she walked with him inot the void, she with him and him with her.
